So continuing on from our fabulously successful re-release of “Safe As Milk” (S125009) it gives us intense pleasure to reissue his eccentric follow up to that gem in the form of “The Mirror Man Sessions”. “Mirror Man” turned away from the more commercial blues based “Safe As Milk” towards a much more eccentric, eclectic and avant-garde set which, by all accounts, was enough to see off Ry Cooder permanently due to the tensions at the time. The original clocked in at a grand total of 4 loooong tracks, namely “Taroplane”, “Kandy Korn”, “25th Century Quaker” and “Mirror Man”. Our double album package has the advantage of adding a further 5 indispensable Beefheart tracks in “Trust Us” (Take 6), “Safe As Milk” (Take 12), “Beatle Bones N’ Smokin’ Stones”, “Moody Liz” (Take 8) and the fabulously titled “Gimme Dat Harp Boy”. For lovers of the Captain this is another must-have collection – especially if you wanna hear ‘em in the form that they were originally intended to be heard in. Namely glorious analogue on crisp 160 gram vinyl!

With over 20 albums to date, Jimmy Cliff has always been one of the brightest stars of Jamaica's thriving musical culture and was among first to bring reggae to a worldwide audience. 1969 was the year the Cliff's early promise was confirmed with the international success of "Wonderful World, Beautiful People". Along with Jamaican artists such as Max Romeo and Desmond Dekker, Cliff had enormous success in Britain, where "Wonderful World.." reached number six in October. In the USA too, Cliff found an enthusiastic audience and critical acclaim. The Harder They Come was the first internationally successful Jamaican film and raised Cliff's profile and that of reggae music still further, assisted by the rapid sales and enduring popularity of the fantastic Kong-produced soundtrack album. His 1983 collaboration with Kool & The Gang resulted in the Grammy-nominated album The Power and the Glory, an achievement bettered in 1985 when the follow-up Cliff Hanger won Cliff a Grammy. Film work again gave him a huge US/UK hit when his cover of Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" featured on the soundtrack to the 1993 Jamaican bobsleigh comedy Cool Runnings, and his vocals appeared with Elton John's in Disney's enormously successful Lion King. He also made a return to acting taking roles in Club Paradise with Robin Williams and Peter O'Toole, and Marked For Death with Stephen Segal. 30 years on from The Harder They Come, Jimmy's music is still as relevant as ever. It's not only reggae that bears his influence: Cliff has worked with an incredibly diverse range of artists from Erykah Badu and Elvis Costello to Annie Lennox and Wyclef. Simply Vinyl are proud to introduce Black Magic into the catalogue, produced by Dave Stewart and Cliff's first album for Unique Corp Ltd. Featuring many of today's current and legendary stars Black Magic sees appearances from Annie Lennox, Sting, Jools Holland, Kool & The Gang, Yanick Noah, Wyclef and one of the last ever recordings from the critically acclaimed guitarist Joe Strummer. Don’t hesitate on buying this unique album on 160g virgin vinyl!

Let’s Take It To The Stage / Do That Stuff

Item: 51A66* Dkr. 160,00 On stock: 2

This is another essential Godfather Of P-Funk package containing the cream of George’s Capitol Records period. We’re talkin’ the brilliant “Atomic Dog” (No.1 RnB US ’83), the storming “Do Fries Go With That Shake” (No.13 RnB US ’86) and the stomping “Loopzilla” (No.19 RnB US ’82). Other classics include “Quickie”, “Nubian Nut” (No.15 RnB US ’83), “Double Oh-Oh” (No.32 RnB US ’85), the ridiculous “Dog Talk” (the Rap Version of Atomic Dog) and a murderous medley version of “Let’s Take It To The Stage/Do That Stuff”. The album is the usual George Clinton/ Parliament/Funkadelic brand of crazed nuclear funk which blows your socks off every time! Another 180 double gem for the Serious Funk Collectors.

Welcome to the phenomenal double "Wheels Of Fire". Sides one and two being studio recordings and sides three and four being taken from their "Live At The Fillmore" concert. Naturally, as you'd expect, the album is crammed full of double whammy tracks, which were also issued as singles. Such as, "Pressed Rat And Warthog" (No.40 UK, No.64 US '68) and "White Room" (No.6 US, No.28 UK '69). The "Live At The Fillmore" album contains the brilliant "Crossroads", a 17-minute marathon "Spoonful", "Traintime" and another 16 minute workout "Toad". "Wheels Of Fire" was Cream's only US No.1 and their biggest UK hit bar "Goodbye". For those of you out there who are die-hard fans of one of the world's biggest supergroups (and let's face it not many groups can boast talent like Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce), then "Wheels Of Fire" is an essential purchase for you dudes!
