Strong mix of lead vocalists, each with his own distinctive style, backed by voices arranged differently for each song. Tight, funky instrumentation, particularly the sax and synthesizer work. Some of the best synthesizer yet used by Black disco groups, with the instrument remaining in the background but filling in gaps well. Fun lyrics expressed without the seriousness that burdens so many such albums. Disco, of course, but also quite suitable for just plain listening. Fine production from George Clinton. Instrumental guests include Fred Wessley, Michael and Randy Brecker and Bernie Worrell on keyboards and synthesizer. Best cuts: "P. Arguably the singles from “Screamadelica” provided the soundtrack for the Summer’s of both 1990 and 1991, such was their impact. Kicking off with Terry Farley’s brilliant mix of “Loaded” (No.16 UK ‘90) followed by “Come Together” (No.26 UK ’90) in the summer of 1990 and exactly one year later two more hits appeared in the guise of “Higher Than The Sun” (No.40 UK ’91) and “Don’t Fight It Feel It” (No.41 UK ’91). “Screamadelica” is possibly one of the most perfectly sequenced albums ever made with every track complimenting each other. We have full gospel choirs, layer upon layer of percussion, brass sections and throbbing basslines throughout the album resulting in “Screamadelica” being the nearest thing to a 90’s version of Phil Spector’s “wall of sound”.
