Very well done effort combining all of the elements so many soul-oriented groups strive for but seldom meet. Strong mix of lead vocalists, each with his own distinctive style, backed by voices arranged differently for each song. Tight, funky instrumentation, particularly the sax and synthesizer work. Some of the best synthesizer yet used by Black disco groups, with the instrument remaining in the background but filling in gaps well. Fun lyrics expressed without the seriousness that burdens so many such albums. Disco, of course, but also quite suitable for just plain listening. Fine production from George Clinton. Instrumental guests include Fred Wessley, Michael and Randy Brecker and Bernie Worrell on keyboards and synthesizer. Best cuts: "P. Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up)," "Mothership Connection (Star Child)," "Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker)," "Night Of The Thumpasorous Peoples."

So welcome to Lee “Scratch” Perry’s “Reggae Greats”. This has long been unavailable on vinyl and, as a result, has never been in more demand with the ever-growing cult status of Lee Perry. So what’ve we got? We’re talking the Heptones “Party Time”, Junior Murvin’s gorgeous “Police & Thieves”, Max Romeo’s rockin’ “War Ina Babylon”, George Faith’s magnificent “To Be A Lover” and Lee Perry’s own “Soul Fire”, the delightfully named “Roast Fish And Cornbread” and “Dreadlocks In Moonlight”. All these as well as other tracks from Keith Rowe, Jah Lion and Prince Jazzbo make this a KILLER compilation especially on 180g vibin’ vinyl.

Welcome to Portishead's 2nd album remarkably called "Portishead" For those of you who are already familiar with the haunting ephemeral vocals of Beth Gibbons beautifully merged with the electronic dabblings and samplings of Geoff Barrow, "Portishead" should be a must to own on 180 gram vinyl. Also, the limited amount of vinyl copies made available at the time, are now long gone! Following the huge success of the debut album "Dummy" (No.2 UK '95), "Portishead" (No.2 UK '97) spawned their biggest hit single to date with "All Mine" (No.8 UK '97) as well as a couple of minor ones with "Over" (No.25 UK '97) and "Only You" (No. 35 UK '98). So here's "Portishead" available on luscious 180 gram vinyl.

Following the success of “Elvis Presley” (SVLP185) we are happy to issue the Elvis’ second album imaginatively titled “Elvis” (No.1 US ’56). Completely re-mastered and featuring additional tracks and new sleeve notes but keeping that wonderful cover of Elvis in a side profile, “Elvis” is packed to the brim with stacks of legendary rock n’ roll classics. We’re talking the phenomenal “Hound Dog” and “Don’t Be Cruel” (both No.2 UK, No.1 US ’56), the rockin’ “Rip It Up” (No.27 UK ’57), the soppy “Love Me Tender” (No.11 UK, No.1 US), the seductive “Paralysed” and “Too Much” (No.6 UK, No.1 US). Other tracks include “Any Way You Want Me”, “Love Me”, “Long Tall Sally”, “Old Shep”, “Ready Teddy”, “Anyplace Is Paradise” and “How Do You Think I Feel” amongst many others. Also, apart from the classic cover looking so much better on 12” square thick card, let’s not forget that vintage Rock n’ Roll was designed for the vinyl medium in the first place so this is well and truly how it should be heard – especially on great, crisp 160 gram pure virgin vinyl at the right price!

Predating the success of the “Now That’s What I Call Music” series by a few decades, Elvis Presley demonstrated the art of establishing a franchise with his Elvis Golden Records series. So following the success of Elvis Golden Records Vol. 1 (SVLP231) and Volume 2 (SVLP241), it’s now time for us to re-issue Elvis Golden Records Vol. 3 (No.3 US ‘63, No.6 UK ’64). As with the other two volumes once again this is chock-filled with Elvis smashes from 1960-1962. We’re talking “It’s Now Or Never” (No.1 UK, No.1 US ’60), “Stuck On You”/”Fame And Fortune” (No.3 UK, No.1 US ’60), the jaunty “Wooden Heart” (No.1 UK, No.1 US ‘61), “Wild In The Country” (No.1 UK, No.5 US ’61) and the classic “It’s Now Or Never” (No.1 UK, No.1 US ’60). Other killers on this definitive third volume of classics include the much covered “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, “Are You Lonesome Tonight” (No.1 UK, No.1 US ’61), “The Girl Of My Best Friend” among many other Elvis classics from this hit-laden period. The cover goes back to the original as per the first two volumes with a smiling, buoyant Elvis surrounded by a gold disc. Includes the usual insert with updated sleeve notes, pictures and info. First time on 180 gram as per usual! Add to the Elvis collection immediately!

Following on from the popularity of the first four volumes of “Elvis Golden Records” (SVLP’s 231, 241, 273, 342) we close off the series with another golden (and some argue) best period in his golden-voiced career. We’re talking hits like the soulful “Suspicious Minds” (No.2 UK, No.1 US ’69), “In The Ghetto” (No.2 UK, No.3 US ’69), “Burning Love” (No.7 UK, No.2 US ’72), “Moody Blue” (No.6 UK, No.31 US ‘77), “Way Down” (No.1 UK, No.18 US ’77), “Kentucky Rain” (No.21 UK, No.16 US ’70), “You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me” (No.9 UK, No.11 US ’71), “U.S. Male” (No.15 UK, No.28 US ’68). Other smaller hits and notable tracks include “Big Boss Man” (No.38 US ’67), “If I Can Dream” (No.11 UK, No.12 US ’69) and “Clean Up Your Own Back Yard” (No.21 UK, No.35 US ’69) among many others. As with all the Elvis’ Golden Hits releases, Volume 5 comes with the usual beautiful re-production of the original sleeve plus an insert with the usual liner notes and photos. The Golden Records series features 92 of Elvis’ greatest songs over the 22 years of his recording career and should obviously be a fixture in everyone’s record collection. Get ‘em all!

Welcome to our first release from one of the most uncompromising bands of all time – Bobby Gillespie’s Primal Scream with their landmark album “Screamadelica” (No.8 UK’91). Arguably the singles from “Screamadelica” provided the soundtrack for the Summer’s of both 1990 and 1991, such was their impact. Kicking off with Terry Farley’s brilliant mix of “Loaded” (No.16 UK ‘90) followed by “Come Together” (No.26 UK ’90) in the summer of 1990 and exactly one year later two more hits appeared in the guise of “Higher Than The Sun” (No.40 UK ’91) and “Don’t Fight It Feel It” (No.41 UK ’91). “Screamadelica” is possibly one of the most perfectly sequenced albums ever made with every track complimenting each other. We have full gospel choirs, layer upon layer of percussion, brass sections and throbbing basslines throughout the album resulting in “Screamadelica” being the nearest thing to a 90’s version of Phil Spector’s “wall of sound”. The album is also a melting pot of Primal Scream’s main influences from the Rolling Stones and Big Star through to the Beach Boys with an extra added dose of rave culture! A brilliant slice of history on DOUBLE 180 gram vinyl.

Following on from the success of our Soul/RnB releases we thought we’d widen our musical parameters by delving our feet into the wonderful world of Rap and Hip-Hop. We’re talking the arch deacons of urban rap here – welcome Public Enemy with their mighty debut album “Yo! Bum Rush The Show”. Long unavailable on vinyl “Yo! Bum Rush The Show” hit the rap scene like a charge of angry buffalo!
