Third
release from this most influential of 60’s west coast bands
"Future" by The
Seeds.
Following the local impact of the first two albums and the fact that they
scored a U.S. chart singles success with "Pushin’
Too Hard" from the previous year and
"Can’t Seem To Make You Mine"
from earlier in ’67, all these factors combined to make "Future"
the first Top 100 album hit of the band’s career where it reached the
dizzy heights of No.87 in August ’67. The album followed the template of
the first two Seeds albums continuing the psychedelic organ-lead sound
together with Sky Saxon’s typically obscure lyrics which summed up the
times perfectly. Titles like "March Of The Flower
Children", "Painted Doll",
"Flower Lady & Her Assistant",
"Two Fingers Pointing At You"
and "Six Dreams" underline
this. Together with "The Seeds"
and "A Web OF Sound",
"Future" provides a trilogy
of albums which capture the early psychedelic L.A. scene like few others.

Legendary
Black Music icon - the infamous Sylvester Stewart
a.k.a. Sly Stone. "The Best Of Sly And The Family
Stone" is another trip through Black Music history
with some of the most infectious funk ever committed to vinyl! From the
infectious good-time boogie of "Dance To The Music"
(No.7 UK, No.8 US) to the stoned funk of "If You
Want Me To Stay" this is a package which every
discerning music lover should kill to own. Contains the usual smorgasbord
of smash hits like the glorious "Everyday People"
(No.1 US), "Hot Fun In The Summertime"
(No.2 US), "Thank You (Fallettinme Be Mice Elf
Again)" (No.1 US), the brilliant "Family
Affair" (No.1 US, No.15 UK) and the wonderful jazzy
"Runnin’ Away" (No.17 UK,
No.23 US). Also contains a plethora of funky gems and stoned laid back
jams, which are synonymous with Sly at his very best, for instance
"I Want To Take You Higher",
"Sing A Simple Song".
"I Get High On You", the
brilliant "Stand"" and the
positively orgasmic "Skin I’m In".
All in all, another wonderful package on beautiful double 180 gram vinyl.
No true collection should be without this!

808 State are the leading
techno auteurs and these songs can only be described as immaculate musical
constructions. This long awaited new album features collaborations with
Elbow vocalist Guy Garvey on the atmospheric ‘Lemonsoul’, Simon Lord the
singer from Simian on the angular ‘606’ and The Reverend D.Wayne Love and
Larry Love, the vocalists from Alabama 3, on the brooding ‘Crossword’.
“Outpost Transmission” consolidates all their musical strengths and is a
reminder of how important this group’s influence has been on the UK music
scene. Formed in 1988 by Graham Massey, Martin Price and Gerald Simpson,
they recorded the legendary Newbuild for their own label Creed that is
often sited as one of the greatest dance albums of all time. The line-up
changed to Massey, Andy Barker and Darren Partington who went on to enjoy
huge global success with albums like Excel, 808:90 and Gorgeous. 808 State
were recently cited by the two leading UK music publications Q and NME as
being one of the five most important bands from Manchester. They are
without doubt one of the most influential UK dance acts ever and their
legendary tracks ‘Pacific State’ and ‘Cübik’ are ground breaking musical
landmarks that have inspired a legion of acolytes.

"Dead
Man Walkin" was Snoops last offering for Death Row Records...and looking
around the internet there are many comments attesting to this: You haven't
met Snoop until you have heard Dead Man Walking" - "Snoop's best album to
date" - "Snoop is the best" - " Snoop iz tight" All of these are comments
from punters, the fans, the people who matter most..."Dead Man Walkin" has
established itself as one of Rap Musics Finest Releases...The sound of the
album goes back to Snoop's gangsta way of life, where outlaws go to jail
and then sing about it; "County Blues" is a modern badass tale that could
have been sung by any of the rural blues greats like Blind Lemon Jefferson
and "Head Doctor" is something for the hip-hop, R & B, and pop music
heads. Also the minimal amount of guest artists remind you of who the
headliner is, this is Snoop's album and be sure of that fact...Most fans
will hold his style to the standard of the things produced by Dr. Dre;
thicker beats, aggressive yet delicate rapping. But "Dead Man Walking"
presents a less urgent kind of music. For those who question the power of
Snoop's art, this piece is one page in his rap biography, and you cannot
know the whole story if you don't read the whole book

A
massive album finally given the Simply Vinyl treatment, and as a special
bonus we include ‘Handbags and Gladrags’ (omitted from the original
vinyl issue) and ‘Surprise’ (which was originally a CD only bonus
track!) to present the full track listing on vinyl for the very first
time. With their third album, Welsh band Stereophonics finally came into
their own. In Just Enough Education to Perform, the trio released a
truly mature disc – the one that inevitably propelled them to the
forefront of the minds of those who had previously ignored them. The
album entered the UK album charts at number one and, has since turned
platinum. Just Enough Education to Perform evokes the ragged croak of
Rod Stewart or the world-weary country lament of Neil Young without
feeling the need to unnecessarily embellish its content. The simple
semi-acoustic readings of "Nice To Be Out", "Step on My Old Size Nines"
and "Lying in the Sun" prove that, stripped-down, Jones can match most
singer-songwriters of an alt-country persuasion without breaking into a
sweat. By this time in their career, Oasis began losing themselves in
bland bombast and a fog of hollow guitar solos; to its credit, Just
Enough Education to Perform does not let fame cloud the clarity of its
meaning. A classic British rock album...........
